Caligraphy.
Japanese caligraphy is based on chinese caligraphy, containing couplets, or quartrains of four, five, or seven sylebals.
Often Symbols used in Japanese Poems, are not used in basic alphebet, or modern language. The chinese have no pheonetic alphebet, but it replies on more then 60,000 different charecters. Where Japanese have two phonetic syllaberries, called kanas. There every day usaage contains more then 3,000 alphebetical letters.
Traditional Japanese Caligraphy is well defined with rules requireing that there is atleast one blotted area, Called a Nijini, and one patched area, called Kasure.
There are many Caligraphy societies in Japan. And it takes many years for one to mast the art of Caligraphy. Very few Caligraphers ever recieve best in class honors, but Takesa SenSei has recieved four multiple honored awards for his work.
Bokuteki-kai is a Caligrapher society devoted on training profesional Caligraphers. Rankings are different from society to society, and the require ments of the ranks are different from place to place.
